Growth is necessary, and I believe Colwood is moving through a positive and exciting period in its evolution, but how we grow matters. I will work to ensure new initiatives and developments align with Colwood’s existing plans while considering the bigger picture for our community. Most importantly, growth should respect the natural beauty and family-oriented neighbourhoods that generations of Colwood residents are proud to call home.
Working Together
Councils are elected to make decisions on your behalf, but good local government depends on keeping the conversation going and making sure we’re moving in the right direction together, as a community. I will advocate for clear monitoring and regular reporting so residents can see how City initiatives are progressing and how decisions are delivering results. The conversation shouldn’t stop after the election, so let’s keep working together to support our City staff and help Colwood continue moving in the right direction.
Living Well Together
I’ve been advocating for improved mental health services since 2016, with a particular focus on the unique needs and care of young adults. I’m proud of Colwood’s new clinic and will do whatever I can to support its success, while also recognizing the important role our parks and natural spaces play in our physical, mental, and emotional well-being. A healthy community also needs a healthy local economy, and responsible business growth will create more opportunities for residents to work, shop, and invest right here at home in Colwood.
A bit about me
I moved to Colwood 16 years ago and have continued to make community involvement a priority, including serving as Colwood’s Citizen Representative for literacy and volunteering as a Big Sister and with Island Health. My experience also includes owning a small business, directing The Allegra Singers for 25 wonderful years, and a rewarding career as a teacher, much of it at a school focused on education rooted in nature.
For decades, I’ve been drawn to municipal government because it’s where individual citizens can work together to make a real difference in their community. This passion began when I met with the Mayor of Esquimalt to advocate for improvements to the playground at Memorial Park. This in turn led to serving as Vice-Chair of Esquimalt’s Parks & Recreation Committee and Vice-Chair of the Centennial Celebrations Select Committee.
Family is central to my life, and spending time with my kid, Lex, at our reunions is always something I look forward to. I’m especially proud to share that the artwork featured throughout my campaign is original work created by Lex. I love being outdoors, connecting with nature, and spending time in my garden. Music has also been a lifelong passion. I love singing with friends and family, and you may have even seen me performing the national anthem with my friend at a Grizzlies or PFC game.
Whether through teaching, advocacy, business, music, or public service, I’ve believed in bringing people together and helping build a strong community.
